Vipers

Crawling backwards
A child writhed in pain
He screamed in horror
At the sight of the veins
Under the skin
Of his hands and arms
Transforming into vipers
Biting in constant repetition
Injecting poison
As they coursed through his body
Reaching his brain
Suddenly, they ceased biting
The serpents coiled
The boy stopped crawling
He turned over
Peacefully falling asleep
