The Choke

Intense desire
A rope, cord, a wire
The end approaching
Coming short, going long
As Lady Death sings his favorite song
He choked himself to sleep
He chased away his dreams
The moment when the noose got tight
Was when he felt the most alive

  1. there's a recurring theme of death (physical, emotional or metaphorical) in your poems. This one is so touchingly deep in its humanity. The desperation in his act and the relief...Beautiful in a morbid sort of way...
