All Dressed Up

Here she comes
On the weekend again
He has no worries
He has no friends
Someday perhaps he'll get his ass in gear
Right now it’s sticking to a leather chair

She's all dressed up
He's got nowhere to go
She's gonna look good
When it’s time for the show
Up all night
Feeling nothing but love
He'll get himself ready
when push comes to shove

He has his bar stocked
with tonic and gin
Got the limes cut
And shaved ice in the bin
The outside world
might as well be dead
The strippers are here
spinning on the pole in his head

All day long on the web again
Chat and text
and stranger’s IM’s
Dating sites
list his loves and dislikes
He'll be staying logged on
well past midnight

He's all dressed up
With nowhere to go
But she always looks good
When it’s time for the show
He'll be up all night
Feeling one thing, not love
Then he'll get ready
if push comes to shove

  1. so sad...but a very good depiction of expectations and the conflict between virtuality and reality. I think your picture is very realistic.
